Overview of the 53rd Street Vision Workshop Series

Despite dire forecasts of a blizzard, over 75 people attended the January 12, 2009 TIF meeting.  At this meeting we shared a summary of the development schemes from the November 15, 2008 model block workshop.  We then discussed with some of the developers and architects present the implications of the results.   

On November 15 2008, over 125 residents worked for three hours in teams to create development concepts for the following sites on 53rd Street:
  • Harper Court and City of Chicago Parking Lot
  • Dorchester Commons (53rd and Dorchester)
  • McMobile site (on 53rd St., across from Nichols Park)
Each team then tested the viability of its concept against a computer based financial model and then refined the concept until it worked vis a vis the financial model.
